MIKIW. In 1963, the first Medicinal Chemistry Meeting-in-Miniature, informally referred as “MIKI," was held at the University of Iowa. Since then, the Departments of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy of the Universities of M innesota, I owa, K ansas, and I llinois at Chicago have alternately hosted these annual regional meetings. He joined the chemistry faculty at the University of Minnesota in 2012, and was granted tenure in 2018. He is currently a McKnight Presidential Fellow. Professor Pomerantz' research focuses on the development of chemical biology and medicinal chemistry approaches for modulating protein-protein interactions.
